Invivo Monitoring
There is a growing burden on Trusts in terms of the requirement for routine follow-up of implanted therapeutic and diagnostic devices, such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs)
Increasing implant rates, device complexity and follow-up guidelines have served to significantly increase pressure on clinics and resources. In addition, ICD device alerts in the recent past have mandated greater vigilance in follow-up. The situation is exacerbated by a national shortage of appropriately trained cardiac physiologists, and many centres are struggling to cope with workload, whilst meeting other clinical obligations.
InVivo is proposing to offer a new service facilitated by a new generation of devices which can be followed-up remotely, obviating the need for patients to routinely attend clinic.
The first of these remote monitoring systems is already in use in the US, where many thousands of patients are being successfully followed-up. InVivo Monitoring intends to provide a data reporting service to managing physicians, effectively relieving departments of the burden of routine follow-up. There are numerous advantages for patient and provider alike including financial benefit, improved compliance with risk and governance issues, and a significantly enhanced patient experience.
